I've heard a lot about the brand Essence ever since I started writing my blog, it was always a brand that popped up on the American blog posts and youtube videos, I have wanted to try so many products for a while but just wasn't sure how to get my hands on them in the UK. When I popped into my local Wilko store a few weeks ago I discovered they had an Essence stand, I had heard rumours that this was one of the places the brand was available in the UK, but hadn't managed to find it as of yet. I wasn't really sure what I wanted to purchase so I just went for a few of the basics to get started.
Firstly I particularly noticed how cute and lovely the single eyeshadows were, I really like the style of packaging and the shades were all really beautiful. I tested a couple of the shades on the back of my hand and was really impressed by the texture and colour pay off, so I thought I'd grab three of these, in quite neutral everyday shades. The shade that intrigued me the most was shade 14 'chilli vanille', its the most perfect, matte creamy white shade that just looks absolutely perfect for the brow bone or as an all over eye base. Next I went for shade 15 'hazel me not' which is a beautiful chocolate brown colour, I figured this could make the perfect crease transition shade for any look, it's very pretty and its the perfect mix of cool and warm tones. Lastly I had to go for a shimmer shade, the one that caught my eye was shade 18 'all I need' which is a kind of cool toned champagne shimmer, it works beautifully on the centre of the lid or you could use this as an everyday wash of colour, it's so pretty!
Next I moved over to the lip section as I had been hearing good things about the lipliners, I recently really got into lip liners and I've been looking for more shades to add to my little collection, they really do work a treat and keep your lipstick in place all day. Of course I first went for a nude shade as I've been really enjoying my nude lipsticks recently, the shade I went for was in the nude, its a perfect light nude shade that suits my skin tone very well. I have found in the past that most nude lipliners have been too dark or orange toned for me, but this one is a lovely shade. Then of course I also had to grab a pink shade, so after much deliberation I picked up satin mauve, a beautiful dusty pink shade that I feel is going to be perfect against lipsticks such as MAC Creme Cup and Faux. The lipliners cost me an absolute steal of £1.00 each so I was seriously impressed with this and on application they feel so soft and creamy, definitely a winner product here.
Finally I of course thought I should try out one of their lipsticks, I really couldn't decide on a shade and well if I'm honest, at a small cost of £2.30 each I could have purchased as many as I liked but I decided to just give one a go for now. I went for the come naturally from the long-lasting nude line, I really love the packaging, the fact that the bullet shade matches the lipstick colour fascinates me and its such a handy way to package a lipstick (they also look super pretty in your collection!) Shade 03 is a different one, it's a kind of purple toned nude, but it's not too purple that it is scary or unbearable, it's super lovely and has a slightly sheer/glossy finish but the colour itself is pigmented and true to shade.
So there you have it, I have finally added some Essence products to my makeup collection and so far I'm really enjoying each and every one, especially the gorgeous lipstick! Have you tried anything from Essence yet? I really want to try the cream to powder highlighter next!
