MAC is a brand that although I spend a lot of time browsing the stores, I actually very rarely make a purchase, the main reason being that I'm never really sure what to buy and also, it's more expensive than Boots and Superdrug! Over the last year I promised myself I would try more products by the brand, in particular I wanted to make my own eyeshadow palette and try more skincare products.
Today I popped to a town around 45 minutes away from home, mainly because I wanted to head to the Cosmetic Company Store which is an amazing shop that sells discounted makeup from MAC, Smashbox to Estee Lauder and Clinique. The savings on the products range depending on the brand, most of the MAC products are discounted by the minimum of £5.00.
I was pretty surprised that the store was very well stocked especially in the MAC Paint Pot department, usually when paying a visit the only shades available are silver, green or blue! Now there were a few not so nice shades left on the shelves but there were three beautiful neutral shades I had to get my hands on, I really couldn't believe they had these shades. I love the Paint Pots by MAC, they make amazing eyeshadow bases or just everyday colours to wear as a quick makeup fix. These retail at £15.50 at the counter but in this store cost just £10.00 each.
The first shade that caught my eye was Tailor Grey as I'd actually been looking at this in store recently this week, at first I thought it was quite similar to the shade Camel Coat that I already own, but actually this one is more grey toned and cooler. I would best describe this shade as a muted grey, which makes a beautiful nude base, it's very different to any grey eyeshadow I've seen before, its a lot more wearable and forgiving.
Next I picked up Quite Natural which is a beautiful dirty chocolate brown shade, its actually quite dark when applied but you can really buff the product in for a more sheer coverage, which is what I like to do. This shade is really beautiful and thinking about it would probably work quite nicely as a contour product too! I feel like this shade may be a little slightly too dark for me to wear all over the lid on a daily basis, but on the outer corners it is going to be perfect!
Lastly is the most beautiful shade that I see so many people talking about, there was actually just a sample of Vintage Selection but no actual pots to buy, so I asked if there were any left and was super surprised when the shop assistant returned from the stock room with a basket full. I absolutley love this shade and I feel like it will look beautiful on top of the Painterly Paint Pot, that way the colour and shimmer will really show through.
If you have tried the Maybelline Colour Tattoo's, these are very similar but the shades are a lot more natural and everyday as well as being more varied. I absolutely love my Maybelline Colour Tattoos but I find the shades quite limiting, although they have released new shades recently. These Paint Pots have incredible lasting power on the skin and I experience no creasing at all when wearing these, especially with the darker shades, they really stay put all day long and look fantastic throughout.
